Scope of the Position
Responsible for performing basic security at Mosquito Creek Marina including all yard areas, buildings and docks. Responsible for ensuring a safe environment at Mosquito Creek Marina. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority and Accountabilities
Perform security guard work
- Checks yard hourly.
- Checks fences for holes.
- Checks doors and gates hourly.
- Reports any lights that are out.
- Checks docks and boats to ensure they are upright and reports any overturned boats or docks to the Manager immediately.
- Provides hourly report sheets to Manager.
- Follows up to ensure repairs are done.

Complete routine checks and maintenance, including checking yards hourly, check fences for holes, check doors and gates hourly
- Complete routine checks and maintenance.
- Salts high traffic areas, as needed.
- Completes washroom checks regularly to ensure no vandalism, coin machines are in tact, etc.
- Periodically walks along trail and in yard, collecting dock carts to identify inventory on hand.
- Continuously monitors the ALX gate access report.
- Continuously monitors the cameras on site.
- Ensures contractors have a gate key (no codes provided), an MCMB ID badge and are allowed on docks between 7am to 7pm (in the yard until 1Opm).
- Checks in daily using checkmate as per procedure.

Ensure a safe work environment
- Maintains and organizes the inventory of safety or emergency items i.e. deicer, pad locks, cables/chains, bilge/bailing pumps, flashlights/batteries, etc. as advised through safety meetings or by the Dock Master.
- Advises the Dock Master or the Marina Operations Manager when safety or emergency stocks need replenishing.
- Attends fire safety drill and safety meetings to be briefed about new procedures or events that impact safety and security, when required.
- Checks fire extinguisher boxes, fire hoses and other emergency safety items on all docks to ensure intact and not missing; ensure all objects in front or around are removed so they are visible and accessible.
- Checks portable fire pumps, ensuring pumps, hoses, fuel jerry cans, suction hose and connections are not missing and are not damaged. Advises Marina Management of the condition regarding the above mentioned items.

Take direction from the Marina Management Team
- Locks up or releases boats and maintains key inventory as instructed by Marina Management.
- Completes full Marina slip audit, organizes slip audit sheets identifying any discrepancies from dock master report and notifies Dock Master.
- Consults with Dock Master and Marina Operations Manager regularly with issues/ concerns from staff, customers, suppliers, trades personnel, etc.
- Performs dock audits when required (high season).

- Informs supervisor of any medication or medical condition that may cause impairment and create undue risk to the employee or anyone else.
- Reports to work sober (free from alcohol or drugs).
- Wears personal protective equipment if required, and ensure it is in good condition.
- Offers recommendations that may help to improve safety in your workplace.
- Reports immediately to supervisor if uncertain about how to perform your work safely.
