Nch’kaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation – Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’kaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation. Our mission is to generate wealth and create prosperity from economic opportunities for current and future generations of the Squamish Nation. Scope of the Position
Reporting to the Finance Director and collaborating with the Human Resources Department, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for processing hourly and salaried pay cycles in a timely and accurate manner and coordinating benefits and pension plans for our different entities.

Duties, Responsibilities, Authority and Accountabilities
Payroll
- Process bi-weekly payroll for Nch’ḵaỷ and its different entities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform month-end and year-end duties.
- Process new hires, terminations, and other staff related changes.
- Prepare tax forms, ROEs, remittances, and other payroll related forms.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes.
- Calculate and audit leave balances such as vacation, sick leave, and personal leave.
- Provide in-depth analysis to support decision making.
- Identifying any areas of improvement within the payroll process and leading the
implementation of new payroll processes and systems that align with Nch’ḵaỷ’s policies and
values. - Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the benefits and payroll
services are delivered at best practice standards.

Position Requirements
- Relevant Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification is an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role performing the tasks and duties outlined in this job description.
- Experience with full cycle payroll preferred.
- Experience using payroll systems and software (e.g. Payworks)
