JOINING OUR TEAM

The Maintenance Worker is a Casual position based at Capilano River RV Park in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. You will be working towards generating wealth and prosperity for the people of the Squamish Nation.

Scope of the Position

A skilled Maintenance worker performs upkeep tasks such as repairs and cleaning and will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensuring facilities are tidy and functional. Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge.

Salary: $24.08 – Duration: May 15 to October 15 – Address: 295 Tomahawk Ave, West Vancouver, BC V7P 1C5

A. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities 

  • Performs repairs and maintenance of all equipment, buildings, and grounds of the RV Park. 
  • Ensuring facilities and equipment is working correctly and if not repairing or contacting advise the Maintenance Manager with any problems, including sewer checks.
  • Cut, trim and maintain the trees, bushes, grass, and gardens of the RV Park and the Mobile Home Park as required.
  • Fill propane tanks and vehicles according to the set standards established by the government training certificate in propane use.
  • Provide an invoice to the Front Desk for all propane sales and follow up to ensure the invoice was paid.
  • Check the chemicals for the pool (summer) and hot tub according to the set standards of the BC Health Department.
  • Ensure the pool and hot tub are open at the required time.
  • Pick up the garbage bags from the containers throughout the RV Park and Mobile Home Park and take them to the compactor.

B. Other

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive workplace culture.
  • Perform other duties as required.

C. Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor

  • Reports to Maintenance Manager

 

D. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • The propane filling certificate is an asset.
  • Proven maintenance experience.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Strong team player with solid communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines and procedures and as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organization skills.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to interact with colleagues and senior management to maintain quality.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Experience working with First Nations an asset.

E. Working Conditions

  • This role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions.
  • This role needs flexible scheduling including weekends and holidays as needed.
