Syex̱wáliya will continue serving for a second consecutive term, and Matthew joins the Board as a newly appointed member.
Nch’ḵay̓ is pleased to welcome Syex̱wáliya Ann Whonnock and Kwa7kwmchen-kin Matthew Houghton to its Board of Directors.
Appointed by Squamish Nation Council, Syex̱wáliya and Matthew will serve the next four-year term on the Board, helping guide Nch’ḵay̓’s work to advance long-term economic strength and opportunity for the Squamish Nation.
Syex̱wáliya will continue serving for a second consecutive term. She brings deep cultural knowledge, extensive governance experience and a long-standing commitment to First Nations economic development. A Knowledge Carrier and Elder Advisor from Squamish Nation, Syex̱wáliya is a Longhouse Elder and respected leader with decades of Council experience.
Matthew joins the Board as a newly appointed member. He brings a thoughtful and practical perspective shaped by his experience across business, operations, and community service. In 2025, Matthew was elected to Squamish Nation Council, where he continues to focus on governance, accountability and long-term opportunities for future generations.
Together, their appointments reflect valuable experience, continuity, and strong community connection on the Nch’ḵay̓ Board of Directors.
