“It inspired me to get back into beading … It started off with regalia and traditional fans, then after that, I started ordering more materials online,” the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh entrepreneur recalled.

A natural in the craft, Patsy learned quickly how to work with different beads, leather, fabrics, feathers, and threads. Encouraged by her daughter, who also owns a crafting business, she launched Patricia’s Creations and Crafts from her home in Squamish.
Today, Patsy not only makes regalia and jewellery, but beaded medallions, pins, barrettes, hairbands, and more. She also sells crafting materials, such as needles, threads, beads, and starter kits.
“I love knowing that my crafts are travelling and being loved by someone else,” she said. “I don’t consider it work; I just consider it something I enjoy doing.”
Patsy pours her heart and soul into each creation, considering the individual’s energy, personality, and preferences to produce a custom order that reflects them.
Asked if she has any advice for other aspiring career crafts, she replied:
“Once you turn your passion into a business, don’t lose your love for it. Once you lose interest, put it down for a while, think about it, and try it again. Never give up.”
