Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation – Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’ḵaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

The Business Development Associate is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Head Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. Scope of the Position
The Business Development Associate (BDA) supports the Manager, Business Development (MBD) in driving Nch’ḵaỷ’s growth by assisting in the identification, qualification, and development of new business opportunities. This role is essential in providing analytical support, managing relationships, and executing initiatives that align with Nch’ḵaỷ’s strategic objectives. The BDA will work closely with the MBD and other internal teams to ensure successful project execution and contribute to the overall business development strategy.
A. Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities
Opportunity Identification and Research
- Conduct market research to identify potential business opportunities, new markets, and industry trends.
- Assist in evaluating and qualifying leads, assessing their alignment with Nch’ḵaỷ’s offerings and strategic goals.
- Support and develop business cases and scenario financial analyses to assess the feasibility and ROI of potential opportunities
Client and Partner Relationship Management
- Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners.
- Help prepare and present proposals that demonstrate the value of Nch’ḵaỷ’s offerings.
- Provide support during negotiations to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Strategic Support and Growth Initiatives
- Collaborate with the MBD and other internal teams to implement business development strategies.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities, providing insights to the MBD for strategic planning.
- Track and report on the performance of business development activities, identifying areas for improvement.
Industry Engagement and Networking
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows alongside the MBD to network and generate leads.
- Assist in maintaining a strong professional network within the industry.
Project Coordination
- Support the MBD in managing business development projects, ensuring they progress through the gating process.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project timelines and tracking milestones.
- Identify and report potential risks in business development projects and support mitigation efforts.
Administrative and Team Support
- Provide administrative support to the MBD, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and managing correspondence.
- Assist in delegating tasks and projects to team members as directed by the BDM.
- Contribute to team meetings and provide input on business development initiatives.
Scope of Authority
The BDA will have the authority to:
- Conduct market research and analysis under the guidance of the MBD.
- Assist in the qualification of leads and opportunities.
- Support the preparation of proposals and presentations for clients and partners.
- Represent Nch’ḵaỷ at industry events (with MBD approval).
B. Other
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive workplace culture.

C. Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor
- Reports to Manager, Business Development
D. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Knowledge
- A degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
- Understanding of business development processes, including lead generation, market research, and client management.
- Basic knowledge of financial statements and business case development.
- Familiarity with Nch’ḵaỷ and Squamish Nation’s mission and vision (a plus).
Skills
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and partners.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Experience
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
- Experience in supporting team projects and managing multiple tasks.
- Experience working with First Nations is an asset.
