Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000

Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation – Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’ḵaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

The Procurement Lead is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Head Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, and ancestral territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. SCOPE OF POSITION

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Lead to join our team at Nch’ḵaỷ.  As a Procurement Lead, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our organization’s procurement activities. This role involves building and maintaining the procurement function and processes to efficiently source and acquire goods and services while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Your ability to negotiate favorable terms, maintain vendor relationships, and implement cost-effective procurement strategies will be essential in contributing to our company’s overall success. 

Duties, Responsibilities, Authority, and Accountabilities 

Procurement Planning & Development

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved efficiency, and supplier consolidation where appropriate.
  • Ensure that procurement processes comply with company policies and legal requirements

Sourcing and Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure the best value for the company.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring quality and delivery standards are met.

Purchase Order Processing

  • Efficiently process purchase orders and monitor their execution to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Ensure a robust procure to pay (P2P) process is implemented and works effectively for the organization. 
  • Address any issues or delays with suppliers to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.

Cost Optimization

  • Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality or service levels.
  • Analyze pricing trends, conduct supplier performance evaluations, and initiate vendor performance improvement initiatives.

Contract Management

  • Oversee the development and administration of supplier contracts, including terms and conditions, service level agreements, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Vendor Evaluation and Selection

  • Conduct thorough vendor assessments, including due diligence, financial stability, and sustainability practices, to ensure the organization partners with reputable and responsible suppliers.
  • Provide support to various departments when Nch’ḵay̓ is engaged in competitive purchasing.

Other

  • Perform other duties as required.

Reporting Responsibilities and Authorities from Supervisor

  • Reports to Director, Finance.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree and further advanced certifications in procurement and supply chain management are advantageous,
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, contract management, and vendor evaluation techniques.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders,
  • Familiarity with procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems,
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines within a rapidly growing organization,
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • A value-driven mindset with a demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with procurement regulations,
  • Good organizational and time-management skills,
  • Strong team player with solid communication skills,
  • High levels of integrity and ability to handle confidential information,
  • Ability to set and manage priorities to meet deadlines,

  • Proficient in MS Office software (Excel, Word and Outlook).

Experience

  • Proven experience within a procurement role.
  • Experience working with First Nations is an asset

  • Willing to work additional hours and off-site as required.
