Nch’ḵaỷ Development Corporation (NDC) was established in 2018 as the economic development arm of the Squamish Nation – Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw. Nch’ḵaỷ’s mandate is to develop, manage, and own the active businesses of the Nation and was created to allow for the separation of business and politics within the Squamish Nation.

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Marketing, Brand and Community Engagement is a Permanent Full-Time position based at Nch’ḵaỷ’s Head Office. Our Head Office is in West Vancouver, BC on the traditional, and ancestral territory of the Sḵw̱xwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation and its people. SCOPE OF POSITION
As the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Marketing, Brand, and Community Engagement, you will lead the development, execution, and evaluation of strategic marketing initiatives to advance Nch’ḵay̓’s mission, reputation, and organizational goals. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader with a deep connection to the Squamish community, a strong understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and expertise in brand management and community engagement.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing strategic internal and external communications, marketing, and community engagement initiatives. Your work will serve the Squamish Nation people, Squamish Nation Council, Nch’ḵay̓’s Board, team members, business leaders, related parties, media, and the public. You will also direct community engagement for real estate projects, ensuring that the voices of the Squamish people are reflected in the planning and evolution of land use.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement comprehensive brand strategies that align with Nch’ḵay̓’s overall business objectives and commitments to the Squamish Nation.
- Champion a visionary approach to branding and communications, integrating Nch’ḵay̓’s generational importance and its commitment to the Nation into all initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of marketing and communications strategies with the organization’s expanding business lines and global awareness efforts.
Brand Management
- Oversee the development and execution of brand initiatives that enhance awareness, loyalty, and market share.
- Drive innovative and culturally informed branding strategies to promote Nch’ḵay̓’s mission and values.
Stakeholder and Community Engagement
- Develop and lead stakeholder engagement strategies, collaborating with the Squamish Nation communications team and other internal/external resources.
- Direct community engagement initiatives for real estate projects, utilizing consultations, focus groups, and other mechanisms to gather input and reflect community voices in project planning.
- Foster strong relationships with community members, leaders, and stakeholders to build trust and support.
Marketing Leadership
- Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, social media, and content marketing efforts.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Measure and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, making data-driven adjustments to optimize results.
Public Relations and Communications
- Develop and oversee communications strategies that enhance Nch’ḵay̓’s reputation and visibility.
- Act as the primary spokesperson, guiding responses to media requests and managing government and institutional relations.
- Approve and oversee messaging across all communications platforms to ensure clarity and consistency.
Internal Communications
- Oversee internal messaging to ensure alignment with Nch’ḵay̓’s values and culture.
- Provide strategic direction for internal communications strategies that leverage technology platforms and drive engagement.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a commitment to excellence and the values of the Squamish Nation.
- Build and maintain a positive team culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity.
- Manage relationships with vendors and contractors as needed.
Budget and Performance Management
- Manage the marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of marketing initiatives and team performance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field;
- MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record in developing and executing multi-channel marketing strategies.
- Extensive experience in community engagement, branding, and public relations.
- Experience working with First Nations communities is highly valued.
- A dynamic thought leader who is strategic, creative, and collaborative with a keen interest in the trends and issues impacting Nch’ḵay̓’s business and society and a passion for connecting the dots and driving meaningful and sustainable change.
- Excellent understanding of digital communications and marketing tools and how to leverage their full capacity combined with superior project management skills and a proven ability to work well under pressure within a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of the BC media environment and previous experience as a spokesperson considered an asset.
- Knowledge of BC development, resource, and regulated projects considered an asset.
- Previous experience within a regulatory or member-focused organization is considered an asset.
- Impeccable research, quantitative, and analytical skills, especially in explaining market events.
- Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks and assignments, with frequent priority changes.
